The program of Trekking in Berber villages
1st day : Marrakech − Asni − Imioughlad − Col of Tacht − Ait Aissa (1950m)
After a short drive of 1h30, we reach the village of Imi Ooughlad, a mountain village and a real gateway to the Toubkal massif. This is where we’ll meet the muleteer who will carry our luggage. We’ll start our hike by discovering the ingenuity of the Berber mountaineers, then by taking an easy path, we’ll slowly climb towards the col of Tacht (2000m); a superb view of the village can be seen from there. We’ll then walk down for about an hour to reach the village of Ait Aissa, located in a valley with multi-colored lands. Night at a local’s. 1h30 drive. 4h30 walk.
2nd day : Ait Aissa (1950m) − Tisi Oussem − Tamssoult waterfalls − Back to the lodging in Tisi Oussem
After breakfast, we’ll continue our hike heading towards the village of Tizi Oussem, all the way up to the sheepfolds and waterfalls of Tamsoulte (2400m), where we’ll have lunch (Berber salad with canned sardines, tuna or mackerel, oranges, always followed by mint tea), we’ll take a nap under the sun the waterfall breeze, then descend by the same path, back to Tizi Oussem. Night at a local’s lodging. 5 hours walk.
3rd day : Tizi Oussem- Col of Mzik (2450 m) – Aremd (1900m)
We’ll leave this beautiful valley to go up in altitude, following a nice pathway at the foot of the Toubkal mountain, with so many views on the valley of Azzaden. After 2h30 of walking, we’ll reach the col of Mzik at 2450m of altitude. We’ll walk down towards the beautiful valley of Imlil and enjoy the sight of that green valley with its terraced orchards, then continue to the village of Aremd. In the afternoon, we can go up to the marabout Chamharouch on our way to Toubkal, then come back to our lodging in Aremd.5h walk.
– 4th day : Aremd − the col of Tamatert (2200 m) − Tinghrine and Ouenskra villages (2050 m)
Through a wide path, and sometimes in the shade of walnut trees and Aleppo pines, we’ll reach the Tizi n’Tamatert at 2200m of altitude and with a superb view of the Imnane valley. Once we got past the col, the villages of Tachdirte, Ouenskra and Tamguist with their stone and mud houses, built one next to the other, won’t fail to charm us. 5H walk. Night at a local’s lodging.
– 5th day : Ounssakra (2050m) − Tizi N’Addi (2900m) − Oukaimden − Oussartek
We’ll follow the path that leads us to the Col of Addi (2900m), where a splendid panoramic view is offered on the villages and the cols that we crossed during the previous days. We’ll have lunch near a spring, then we can visit the rock carvings of Okaimden. Descent along a path lined with thurifary junipers to the valley of Ossertek. Night at a local’s. 5:30 walk.
– 6th day : Oussertek − Imsker − Imi N’Oughlad − Asni − Marrakech
Morning descent by the Imsker village on the Imenane valley, crossing the col of El Bour which leads us by a good mule pathway and through a forest of juniper and holm oaks, to the village of Imi N’Oughlad (1400m). Lunch by the river and end of the hike. Back to Marrakech. 4h30h walk. 1h30 drive.
