Itinerary for Trekking in Morocco Atlas Mountains
Day 1: Marrakech – Asni – Imi N’Oughlad – Tacht Pass – Ait Aissa (1950m)
After a 1.5-hour drive from Marrakech, we arrive at Imi N’Oughlad, a mountain village that serves as a gateway to the Toubkal Massif. Here we meet our local muleteer team. We begin our hike along scenic trails, climbing steadily towards the Tacht Pass (2,000m) for superb views over the valley. We then descend for about an hour to reach Ait Aissa village, situated in a valley known for its colorful terrain.

Day 2: Ait Aissa (1950m) – Tizi Oussem – Tamssoult Waterfalls – Return to Tizi Oussem
Following breakfast, we hike towards the village of Tizi Oussem and continue up to the shepherd shelters and waterfalls of Tamssoult (2,400m). After enjoying lunch and resting near the cool breeze of the waterfall, we descend back along the same trail to Tizi Oussem.

Day 3: Tizi Oussem – M’zik Pass (2450m) – Aremd (1900m)
We leave the Azzaden Valley, climbing along a scenic mountain trail along the foothills of Mount Toubkal. After a 2.5-hour climb, we reach the M’zik Pass (2,450m). We descend into the green Imlil Valley with its terraced fruit orchards, continuing to the village of Aremd. In the afternoon, we can optionally hike up to the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch before returning to Aremd.

Day 4: Aremd – Tamatert Pass (2200m) – Tinghrine & Wanskra Villages (2050m)
Hikes take us along a wide path, shaded by walnut trees and Aleppo pines, up to the Tamatert Pass (2,200m) for panoramic views over the Imnane Valley. Past the pass, traditional stone and mud-brick villages like Tachdirte, Wanskra, and Tamguist showcase unique local architecture.
Walking time: 5 hours. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse.
Day 5: Wanskra (2050m) – Addi Pass (2900m) – Oukaimeden – Oussertek
We follow a trail leading up to the Addi Pass (2,900m), offering wide views over the valleys and passes crossed in previous days. After lunch near a spring, we visit the ancient prehistoric rock carvings near Oukaimeden. We then descend through juniper forests down to the Oussertek Valley.
Walking time: 5.5 hours. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse.
Day 6: Oussertek – Imsker – Imi N’Oughlad – Asni – Marrakech
Our final morning descent takes us past Imsker village in the Imnane Valley, crossing the El Bour Pass. A mountain trail through juniper and holm oak forests leads us back to Imi N’Oughlad (1,400m). We enjoy lunch by the river before taking our transfer back to Marrakech.
