Tassaout Valley Trekking : A hike that allows you to discover the most beautiful valleys of the central high atlas (Ait Bougmez and the Tassaout valley with its famous village named Magdaz, which was classified by UNISCO as the most beautiful village in Morocco architecture wise. This hiking trip is resolutely focused towards encounters with the Berbers, in the heart of their beautiful, remote villages with breathtaking colors. Itinerary of Valley Tassaout trekking

Day 1 : Marrakech − Azilal − The Happy Valley of Ait Bougumez

Transfer to the valley of Ait Bougumez. Lunch at the city of Azilal known as the door of the central high atlas, before continuing towards the col of Oughbar (2200m), then descending to the valley of the Abbas and joining agouti, the first village of the happy valley. Night at a local’s lodging.

Day 2 : Ait Bougmez valley (1750 m) − the valley of Arouss − Ikiss N’Arouss (2300 m)

For this first day of Trek, we leave the house to follow the path through the fields and orchards of the valley of Ait Bougmez through the villages Ait Ziri, Idekalen, Agouti. We go up the valley of Arous to discover the diversity of the local architecture in adobe. We will join Azib N’Ikkis (the sheepfolds of Arous) to discover the pastoral activity of the valley and to admire sumptuous landscapes. Night under the tents at Azib N’Ikkis (2300m). The duration: 4h30 walk.

Day 3 : Azib N’Ikkis (2300m) − The pass of Tarkedit 3400m − Tarkedit (2900 m)

Heading back to Col of Tarkedit 3400m, we’ll admire a beautiful view of the Mgoun chain and summit at 4068m altitude, and then descent to the Tarkedit plateau, that’s frequently visited by Nomads. Day 4 : Tarkeddit Plateau − The col of Sdremt (3250 m) − The Tassaout Valley

After an hour of walking on the plateau, we’ll go up by the caves to reach the col of Sdremt, from where we can see the Tassaout valley, one of the greatest valleys of the central High Atlas. We descend the col to have lunch at a village named Tassgaiwalte after crossing this beautiful valley and reaching the sheep pens of Imin Ikkis 2100m.

Day 5 : Imin Ikkis (2100 m) − Ait Hamza − Ait Ali N’Itto − Megdaz

We’ll descend the valley of Tassaout by its beautiful villages of Ichbbaken, Ait Hamza before arriving at Ait Ali N’Itto at 1800m. We’ll then head left up a small valley to the village Megdaz, a need -to-see place since it’s most beautiful village in Morocco architecture wise, classified by the UNISCO. Night in tents. Duration: 5h30 walk. Altitude difference: 500m descent

Day 6 : Megdaz − Fakhour − Demnat − Marrakech

Departure around 8am, after about 3 hours of walking, we’ll arrive at the village of Fahkour after Ait Alla. The last meal of the day, will be prepared by our cook under the big walnut trees. Transfer to Marrakech in the afternoon through the natural bridge of Imi N’Ifri. Duration: 3 hours walk. 5H drive.
