Detailed 6-Day Rose Valley Hiking Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi N’Tichka Pass – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

We depart Marrakech at 8:00 AM, heading through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m)—the highest paved pass in Morocco. As we cross the High Atlas Mountains, the green peaks shift into semi-desert landscapes. After lunch in Ouarzazate, we drive past Kelaa M’Gouna into the scenic Dades Valley, famous for its grand Kasbahs. Night in tents. (Drive duration: approx. 7 hours)

Day 2: Dades Valley – M’Goun River – Aguerzaka

Our trek begins among the terraced crops of the Dades Valley before transitioning through arid trails for about 3 hours. We then reach the verdant M’Goun Valley. After enjoying lunch along the riverbank at Ighrm Aqdim, we walk another 1.5 hours to the village of Aguerzaka. Note: Bring water sandals, as river crossings are required!

Day 3: Aguerzaka – M’Goun Gorges Exploration – Aguerzaka

Today’s adventure takes us up the M’Goun Valley via river-walking to reach the spectacular M’Goun Gorges—a geological marvel sculpted over centuries. Enjoy lunch in the shade of the canyons before returning to our traditional mountain huts for a relaxing evening in a tranquil mountain setting.

Day 4: Aguerzaka – Ameskar Valley – Almdoune

Leaving the valley, we ascend 300 meters through a juniper forest to cross a mountain pass into the Ameskar Valley. We enter the Almdoune region, famous for its cluster of nearly 100 traditional mud-brick Kasbahs. After lunch in Temtda, we proceed to Alemdoune village (1,700 m).
Walking time: 5 hours | Elevation: +400m / -300m | Night in tents.

Day 5: Almdoune – Oleander Gorges – Boutaghrar

We descend gently into a gorge surrounded by wild oleanders (river crossing sandals required). Beyond these exotic canyons lies Elhout village, renowned for its grand adobe architecture. After lunch near Aznag village along the river, a 1-hour walk brings us to Boutaghrar.
Walking time: 5 hours | Elevation: -500m | Night in a traditional gîte.

Day 6: Boutaghrar – Ouarzazate – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Our transport takes us back towards Ouarzazate to visit the iconic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, an 11th-century UNESCO World Heritage site featured in famous Hollywood films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After exploring, we take in final views of the Atlas Mountains before returning to Marrakech.
Drive duration: 6.5 hours | Hotel drop-off in Marrakech.
