Itinerary for 6-Day Toubkal Treks Berber Villages
Day 1: Marrakech – Asni – Imi N’Oughlad – Tacht Pass – Ait Aissa (1950m)
Departure around 8:00 AM after breakfast from Marrakech to the village of Imi N’Oughlad, where we meet our local team of muleteers. After preparing our luggage, we begin our climb towards the Tacht Pass (2,000m), offering wide views over the surrounding mountains. We then descend for about an hour into the colorful valley of Ait Aissa.
Drive duration: 1h30 | Walking time: 4.5 hours. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse in Ait Aissa.
Day 2: Ait Aissa (1950m) – Tizi Oussem – Tamssoult Waterfalls – Return to Tizi Oussem
After breakfast, our hike leads us to the village of Tizi Oussem and up towards the shepherd shelters and Tamssoult waterfalls at 2,400m altitude. We pause near the waterfalls to enjoy lunch, relaxation, and fresh mountain air before descending along the same path back to Tizi Oussem.
Walking time: 5 hours. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse in Tizi Oussem.
Day 3: Tizi Oussem – M’zik Pass (2450m) – Aremd (1900m)
We climb towards the M’zik Pass (2,450m), enjoying scenic views over the Azzaden Valley during the ascent. After a short rest at the pass, we descend into the green Imlil Valley with its terraced orchards, stopping for lunch under the shade of walnut trees before continuing to the village of Aremd.
Walking time: 5 hours. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse in Aremd.
Day 4: Aremd (1900m) – Toubkal Refuge (3207m)
A steady climb takes us from the village of Aremd, passing by the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch, up to the Toubkal Refuge at 3,207m in the high mountains.
Walking time: 5 hours. Overnight stay at the Toubkal Refuge.
Day 5: Toubkal Refuge (3207m) – Summit of Mount Toubkal (4167m) – Return to Refuge
We start early in the morning for the summit climb to make the most of the fresh air. From the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m), panoramic views stretch across the High Atlas range, the Sirwa Massif, and the Marrakech plains. Afterwards, we descend back to the refuge for lunch and a restful afternoon.
Ascent: 3 hours | Descent: 2 hours (Total walking time: approx. 5 hours). Overnight stay at the refuge.
Day 6: Toubkal Refuge (3207m) – Imlil – Marrakech
After breakfast at 8:00 AM, we descend along the main mule trail past Sidi Chamharouch back down to Imlil for lunch. We then meet our driver for the return transfer to Marrakech.
Walking time: 4 hours descent | Drive duration: 1h20.
