3-Day Imlil Ourika Valley Trek – Trek Imlil to Ourika from Marrakech

The 3-Day Imlil Ourika Valley Trek is an unforgettable hiking adventure between two famous Berber valleys in the High Atlas Mountains. Starting from Imlil and ending in Setti Fatma, this trek takes you through the high pass of Tizi n’Tacheddirt (3,172m) down into the lush Ourika Valley. The high altitude offers breathtaking panoramic views of Toubkal National Park. Along the way, we traverse authentic Berber villages and terraced fields surrounded by walnut and apple trees.

Itinerary of the 3-Day Imlil Ourika Valley Trek

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil (1740m) – Tizi n’Tamatert Pass (2279m) – Tacheddirt (2400m)

After a 1-hour and 30-minute drive from Marrakech to the picturesque valley of Imlil, we meet our muleteers and their mules to begin our journey. Our trek starts by heading east towards the mountain pass of Tizi n’Tamatert (2,279m), walking through lush barley fields and orchards of cherry, walnut, and apple trees in Tamatert village. At the pass, we stop for a delicious lunch while enjoying stunning views of the Imlil and Imnane valleys. Continuing for approximately two more hours, we reach the traditional village of Tacheddirt, where we spend the night in a local guesthouse (gîte).
Walking time: approx. 5 hours.

Day 2: Tacheddirt (2400m) – Tizi n’Iabbassen Pass (3172m) – Timichi (2000m)

We start our day at 8:00 AM, ascending towards the high pass of Tizi n’Iabbassen (3,172m), which provides breathtaking panoramic views of surrounding High Atlas peaks, including Bouignouane summit (3,882m) and Jbel Aksoual (3,842m). The descent follows a rocky trail to the village of Iaabbassen (2,030m) and further down into the enchanting Timichi valley, famous for its ancient villages and centuries-old walnut trees. We spend the night in a local guesthouse.
Walking time: approx. 6 hours.

Day 3: Timichi (2000m) – Setti Fatma – Ourika Valley (1600m) – Marrakech

On the final day of our 3-Day Imlil Ourika Valley Trek, we hike down the scenic Ourika Valley for about 4 to 5 hours. We pass through corn and walnut fields, as well as the charming Berber villages of Tiourdou, Anfli, Tadrart, and Chiker. Our walk finishes in Ourika, where we enjoy lunch by the river near Setti Fatma village before taking our private 1h30 transfer back to Marrakech.
