6-day Saghro trek − Hiking and trekking Saghro Morocco

6-day Saghro trek : a hike in the south of Morocco, that allows you to discover the pre-Saharan massif of Saghro. The special charm of the Jebel Saghro is mainly due to its exceptional geology from which the variety of its landscapes: the very rugged relief consists of immense and jagged plateaus, high cliffs, deep gorges, steep peaks, towers and tabular escarpments in the middle of which we can find caravans of camels passing by, gorges embellished with bushes of boxwood and monoliths in conglomerates.

From September to May, we invite you to discover a beautiful region in the south of Morocco, the Saghro massif, located in the south of the valley of roses, the last mountain before the valley and Oasis of Draa and vast desert areas.
Djebel Saghro trek : The Jebel Saghro is a volcanic massif that extends to 2712 m above sea level, with spectacular lunar landscapes, plateaus, peaks and canyons. It is also a land of transhumance, of the Ait Atta tribe Ait and their Bedouin tents and herds of goats.
Itinerary of 6-day Saghro trek
Day 1 : Marrakech − Tichka − Ouarzazat − Tagdilt
Early Departure towards Ouarzazate by the col of Tizi N’Tichka. After discovering the Dades Valley and its thousand Kasbahs, we drive south through a desert plateau to the village of Tagdilt. Night at a local’s at 1650m of altitude. 6H drive.
Day 2: Tagdilt − Col N’Iferd − Irefd − Plateau of N’Ouarg (2250 m)
At the beginning of the hike, we’ll wait for the loading of the mules. After that we’ll cross a huge plateau before going up to the col of Tizi N’iferd 2400m): beautiful view from afar on the massif of the central high atlas. Then we’ll go down to the plateau of Iferd. We’ll set up our bivouac on a plateau that’s often traveled by transhumant semi-nomadic Ait Atta. Night in tents at 2250m above sea level. 5h30 walk.
Day 3: Almou N’Ouarg − Kouaouck Summit (2600m) − Igli (1700m)
We begin with a beautiful climb to the summit of Kouaouch (2600 m). A climb that requires no technical means. Our cook will be bringing us the picnic. Descent by Tassegdilt. Night in tents in Igli at 1700m above sea level. 5h30 walk.
Day 4 : Igli − Afourar Gorge − Bab n’AliOasis of Ighazzoun
We’ll go down through the Afourar valley which turns into gorges as we pass by the small oasis of Bouallouz. Arrival at Ousdidene. We can enjoy a beautiful landscape of an immense plateau lined by the peaks of Bab n’Ali. After our hike up to the famous gate Bab n’Ali, we’ll continue our walk to the oasis of Ighazoune. Night in tents. 5 hours’ walk.
Day 5 : Oasis of Ighazoun − Tifdassine − Handour
Departure will be around 8:30am towards the small col of Tifdassine. Long descent to the beautiful valley of the same name. Lunch under almond trees, before continuing to the village of Handoure. 5 hours’ walk. night at a local’s lodging.
Day 6 : Handoure − Ighazzoun − Agdez − Ouarzazat − Marrakech
After thanking of our team of muleteers, we’ll take a path that will lead us to the city of Nkob, then Agdez before crossing the col of Tichka. Lunch after that. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon. 7H drive.
