Hiking In The Ait Bougmez Morocco : This trek will take you to discover two magnificent valleys, the Ait Boulli Valley and the Ait Bougmez Valley, where you will spend your nights in traditional lodges.

Period: From March to the end of November.

Duration: 6 days, including 4 days of trekking.

Daily trekking duration: 5 to 5.5 hours per day.

Difficulty level: Moderate trekking.

Trekking in the Ait Bougmez Valley: The Ait Bougmez Valley, also known as the “Happy Valley,” is located in the heart of the Central High Atlas. It features a vast plateau at an altitude of 2000 meters, surrounded by high peaks such as M’goun (4068 m), Azourki (3682 m), and Rat (3800 m). The valley is highly cultivated, with an abundance of vegetables and apple trees. The Happy Valley offers a variety of fabulous landscapes and a Berber culture that is carefully preserved by its inhabitants, who warmly welcome visitors. We offer an active stay in this beautiful Atlas valley. You will be accommodated in a traditional house offering good comfort, and each day, we will set out to explore the beauty of this region and meet its people known for their legendary hospitality.

The Program of Hiking in the Ait Bouguemez Valley and Ait Boulli Valley 6 days

Day 1 : Marrakech – Demnate – Iminifri – Ait Boulli

Our journey begins at 8 am from Marrakech as we head towards Demnate. On our way, we’ll make a delightful stop at the quaint village of Iminifri to take a short walk and marvel at the incredible natural site known as the “natural bridge.” After passing through the village of Tizi Tizi Noubadou, we’ll catch a glimpse of dinosaur traces. Continuing on a scenic mountain road, we’ll reach the enchanting red valley of Ait Boulli. Upon arriving at Ait Boulli, we’ll settle into our traditional lodge, and in the afternoon, we’ll have the opportunity to explore the village and immerse ourselves in the rich daily life of the Berbers. The drive will take approximately 5 hours, and we’ll spend the night at a local’s home.

Day 2 : Discovery of the Ait Boulli Valley – Return to the Same Lodge

Today, we’ll delve into the heart of the Ait Boulli Valley, affectionately known as the “valley of goat herders.” Our journey will take us through picturesque villages like Abachkou and Ighboula. As we walk along the river, we’ll come across ancient traditional houses that line its course. A gentle ascent to the Ighboula pass will treat us to a breathtaking view of the valley. We’ll enjoy our lunch near the village of Tazgzaoute. Afterwards, we’ll return to our traditional lodge, continuing our trekking adventure in the Ait Boulli Valley .

Day 3 : Ait Boulli Valley – Tafenfant Plateau – Arouss Valley

A splendid 3.5-hour hike awaits us as we ascend to the Tafenfant plateau, where we’ll encounter nomads tending to their goats and sheep. Our talented cook will prepare a delightful lunch amidst the beauty of nature. After descending for two hours along a scenic trail, we’ll find ourselves in the stunning Arouss Valley. Today’s walk will take approximately 6 hours and will be a bit challenging as it covers the longest distance.

Day 4 : Arouss Valley – Agouti – Aguerd N’ouzrou – Ait Imi

Our journey leads us to the village of Agouti, then to Idoukalen at the base of the collective storage of Sidi Chita. Along the way, we’ll pass through fields of corn, wheat, apple trees, poplars, and walnut trees, taking time to observe the daily activities of the villagers in the fields and small grain mills. At the end of the day, we’ll reach the charming village of Ait Imi, where we’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night at a guesthouse. Today’s walk will take approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes, as we continue our trekking in the Ait Boulli Valley, Morocco.

Day 5 : Ait Imi – Visit of Dinosaur Traces – Adazene Mountains – Timit

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll head to the village of Ibaquallioune, where we’ll explore its ancient granary at the heart of the village, along with its prehistoric remains, including dinosaur traces. Our adventure will then take us on a 300-meter ascent to the Adazene Mountains, where we’ll have a picnic lunch amidst nature’s beauty. Later, we’ll make a brief ascent to the collective storage and the marabout of Sidi Moussa, a revered saint known for his spiritual healing. This building, once used to store and safeguard crops, jewelry, and valuable documents, offers an awe-inspiring view of the three directions of the Ait Bougmez Valley, also known as the Happy Valley.

Day 6 : Timit – Azilal – Ouzoud Waterfalls – Marrakech

As we bid farewell to Timit after breakfast, we’ll embark on a different route towards Azilal. Our adventure will include a visit to the spectacular Ouzoud Waterfalls, with its three tiers of cascading water that stretch approximately 110 meters high. These falls are a sight to behold, located on the Ouzoud River at an altitude of 1060 meters in the Middle Atlas of Morocco. Following this refreshing visit, we’ll make our way back to Marrakech, marking the conclusion of our unforgettable journey.
