Morocco walking holidays : Trekking from the Ait Bougmez Valley, Mgoun canyon and roses valley . Diversified hike in the wildest and most remote valleys of the Central High Atlas. We’ll start from the green valley of Aït Bougmez “Happy Valley” as the hike begins, passing by small villages with traditional houses in rammed earth walls. We’ll then head to the col of Ait Imi (2905), on the plateaus of high altitude, where the nomads take their herds of goats and camels grazing. We’ll go down the M’Goun valley, crossing many authentic villages along the river, then the fabulous M’goun gorge, before arriving at the beautiful Valley of Roses. Astonishing landscapes, meetings permanently with locals, in a week-long hike for a total change of scenery.

The program of Morocco walking holidays
Day 1: Marrakech − Azilal − Ait Bougmez Valley − Night at a local’s (1800m)
Departure to Azilal towards 8H, a mountainous city par excellence that gives access to a dazzling nature lined with majestic mountains. On our way, we’ll enjoy breathtaking landscapes that define the central high atlas, to the valley of Ait Bouguemez a.k.a happy valley. Warm Berber-like welcome by enjoying a cup of mint tea, then free stroll in the Timit village, through its houses and fields. Night at a local’s .6h drive.
Day 2: Timit − Starting the hike − Col of Ait Imi (2900 m) − Valley of Zerkan − Tighremt n’Ait Hamed (2300m)
After discovering the village of El Had de Tabant, we’ll start ascending the source of Ait IMI at 2000m altitude to its Col at 2910m.5h ascending walk. From the col, we’ll be able to contemplate a superb panoramic view on the chains and valleys of the M’goun Massif. As we are going to take an easy path down to the Ouzighimt valley, we’ll move to Tighremt N’ait Hamed. Please note that this leg is the only one with difference in altitude, the rest is all descent. 6h30 walk, Elevation: 1100m ascension and 600m descent. Night in tents.
Day 3: Tighremt N’Ait Hamed − Ouzighimt Valley − Imin Irkt
This day is dedicated to the descent of the Ouzighimt Valley; a wonderful valley whose population is still in full activity, and especially women: working in the fields, collecting firewood … We’ll walk all along the river, passing by several villages. We’ll have lunch at the edge of Oued Taghraft. We’ll then continue our trip to the village of Imi N’Irkt. Duration 5:30 walk. Altitude difference: 500m descent. Night in tents.
Day 4: Imi N’Irkt − Tiranimine
This leg involves us walking through water. When the gorge gets narrow, we’ll stay in water, often cold and refreshing in the summer. A hot tea and lunch break awaits us near the Ifasfas spring. The camp will be set in Tighanimine village. Duration 5h walk. Altitude difference: 500m descent. Night in tents.
Day 5: Tighanimine − Boutaghrar – night at a local’s
This leg begins with a stroll in the midst of crops and fruit trees: fig, walnut, apple trees, under a bright sun that makes the weather much hotter than the regions we visited previously. Before arriving at Boutghrar, we’ll have lunch near the village of Tamgalouna. Duration 5h30 walk. Altitude difference: 400m descent. Night at a local’s.
Day 6: Boutghrar − Ouarzazate – The col of Tichka − Marrakech
We’ll hit the road at 8H towards the town of Kelaa M’Gouna, widely known for its roses and its big festival of roses, held every first week of May. After 90km, we will arrive at Ouarzazate. We’ll take a break at a local restaurant. We’ll hit the road again for Marrakech passing by the famous Col of Tichka, where we will have lunch. 320km of road.
